Description

HGH (somatropin) is a recombinant form of human growth hormone that stimulates growth, cell reproduction, and regeneration. In research settings, it’s used to study body composition, recovery, and connective tissue health via direct GH receptor activity and downstream IGF-1 signaling.

Usage

Investigated for effects on lean mass accrual, fat metabolism, recovery from soft-tissue injury, and skin/connective tissue quality.

Mechanism of Action

Binds to growth hormone receptors (GHR), activating JAK2/STAT pathways and inducing hepatic and peripheral IGF-1 production; promotes lipolysis, protein synthesis, and tissue remodeling.

Benefits(4)

  • Supports lean body mass
  • Stimulates lipolysis (fat metabolism)
  • Enhances recovery and tissue remodeling
  • May improve skin thickness and elasticity via IGF-1

Side Effects(5)

  • Fluid retention/edema
  • Joint pain or stiffness
  • Carpal tunnel–like symptoms (paresthesias)
  • Possible insulin resistance or elevated blood glucose
  • Headache or fatigue
